2022 Central-East Gaelic Football Championship -Zurich

SEPTEMBER 19TH 2022

A big weekend for Berlin GAA in the final round of the 2022 Central-East Gaelic Football Championship Gaelic Games Europe in Zurich!

The Berlin GAA men sealed a third championship title in a row thanks to a stirring tournament victory in Switzerland. The Berlin boys came out on top on the day, beating a very strong and gallant Munich Colmcilles GAA side by just a single point in a nail-biting final. That followed earlier wins over Prague Hibernians GAA, Zurich and Munich previously.

Victory left Berlin GAA in an unassailable position at the top of the championship table. The pandemic had forced the championship's cancellation in 2020 and 2021, but Berlin's 2022 victory sealed a three-in-a-row, following the title triumphs of 2018 and 2019.

The Berlin GAA ladies were also reigning champions heading into the final round in Zurich, having won the 2019 title. On Saturday they put in a battling and brave performance throughout the day to finish third in the tournament. That sealed a second place finish in the championship overall. Congratulations to Zurich ladies, who won both the tournament and the championship overall.

Well done to everyone and a big thanks to Zurich Inneoin GAA Club for a very well organised tournament.
